PARIS JAZZ FESTIVAL 2011
The Musical Summer at Parc Floral will reach new heights this year, from June to September, with a jazz and classical tribute to the sounds of the Americas, enhanced by a botanical exhibition showcasing the strong ties between Nature and Music through time and space.
On the jazz front, the concerts presented on the main Delta stage and in the Clearing of Improvisations, every weekend from June 11 to July 31, will develop a wealth of stylistic themes: an ode to the piano; Latin jazz, hot and sizzling; circus music; blues, funk and soul; as well as a celebration of the big band, the “symphony orchestra” of the jazz world. All the colors inherited from the blue note will paint an iridescent picture in the glorious setting of Parc Floral.
For the past few seasons, it was our wish to highlight the work of major creators hailing from sundry cultural territories. This year will be no exception with artists such as Omar Sosa from Cuba, Ballaké Sissoko from Mali, Trilok Gurtu from India and Youn Sun Nah from Korea, but our natural fondness for the work of French musicians, too rarely featured in the leading festivals of their homeland, also fuels our ambition. As we all know, jazz is a free music that knows no borders.
A great Paris Jazz Festival and Musical Summer to all!
